If you are on the cusp of moving house, you will probably be feeling a mix of excitement and stress! Moving house is well known to be one of life’s more stressful events, but there are a few things that you can do in the run up to make it go a little more smoothly and make the move as stress free as possible.
One thing you can do is to make sure you aren’t moving anything with you that you no longer need. Having a big sort out before you move is not only satisfying, but it also gets you started in your new house without any clutter that is no longer needed. It is a great opportunity to clear out old clothes – perhaps take them to a charity shop, or a clothes bank. You could even see if you could make a bit of money and sell them on an online auction, or Facebook.
If you are a business and you are moving offices, this can also be applied to you. Find a business recycling service to help you to reduce how much you put into landfill.
If you have a significant amount of rubbish to get rid of it is a good idea to hire a skip. Find a reputable local company and spend a couple of days getting rid of all your rubbish. It is a great feeling to be free of it all!
Organisation is really important – ensure that you have all the packing supplies that you need and start packing non-essential items first, doing a bit every day. Ensure that you book any vehicles that you need such as a van a good way in advance so you know you will have it on the moving day.
When you get to the other side, make sure that you have labelled all of your boxes so that anything that you need soon can be found with ease – there is nothing worse than going through box after box looking for a hairdryer!
