How teeth whitening works

Fancy a share?

Our smiles are incredibly important and they are not only a reflection of how we are feeling but they are also an indication of our confidence. There is nothing worse than your teeth being the one thing that is affecting how you feel and preventing you from smiling. This could be because you have uneven teeth or it could be due to discolouration that could be corrected by visiting a Fareham Teeth Whitening company. They can use Diamante Teeth Whitening to help restore some of the glistening white colour that we all crave.

But how exactly does teeth whitening work?

Teeth whitening involves placing a solution in a mouth guard that you place over your teeth. In some cases a laser light will then be placed over the mouth guard to activate the solution. Other types of whitening see you placing the solution on for a longer period of time.

There are essentially two types of teeth whitening – stain removal which just removes the staining from your teeth but won’t change their natural colour, and then teeth whitening which uses a bleach like product to alter the natural colour of your teeth.

There are a number of reason that your teeth may become stained and two of them are:

  • Coffee, tea and red wine are some of the main culprits that can cause staining on your teeth. You can help to prevent some of this through regular brushing of your teeth.
  • Cigarettes – tobacco in particular can cause your teeth to turn a yellow colour. This is as a result of nicotine and tar that are found in cigarettes.
