Christina Applegate and her MS diagnosis

Fancy a share?

Christina Applegate has appeared in many television series and her recent appearance in ‘Dead To Me’ has seen her playing a role that is a little harder-hitting than other characters she has played, such as the money-loving sister too . It was during the filming of ‘Dead To Me’ that Christinas started to notice that she was a little unsteady on her feet. She had suffered from tingles and numbness in some of her muscles for a number of years but put this down to the demands of her job.

But, she was to be given a diagnosis that saw her having to take a number of months off filming whilst she sought treatment. Christina was diagnosed with MS. This is an autoimmune condition that affects the way the brain communicates with the body. It can cause a number of issues such as problems with mobility, movement, motor skills and even with speech and memory. A lot of individuals who live with MS will have support from Disability Aids.

These aids could be those that help with movements such as walking sticks and frames and also those that help with self-care such as rails to make getting in and out of the shower safer. There are a number of treatments that are available for MS but the options given will depend on what type of MS the individual has been diagnosed with. There are three types. Relapsing-Remitting; Progressive and Secondary Progressive.
