Which colours for your crochet blanket?

Fancy a share?

If you are thinking of adding some crochet textiles to your home in 2024, you are in good company. Crochet is well and truly undergoing a revival. As well as filling the closets of millennials and Gen Z, homes up and down the country are brimming with beautiful crochet items.
Stylist Magazine recommends the use of crochet in the home to create a ‘tactile, summery feel’. Crochet blankets are also great options for the warmer months of the year as they are often not too dense, meaning that they provide enough warmth and comfort while still being breathable.

A crochet blanket that you have crafted yourself is a personal way to add a focal point to your decor, and crochet blanket kits make this easy for beginners. Crochet blanket kits will contain everything you need to get started, including needles, hooks and yarn, which you can normally adapt to your colour palate. But which colours should you choose for your crochet blanket?

Multi Colored granny squares

The best thing about granny squares, besides being super chic at the moment, is that they can be really vibrant. You can choose multiple yarns to make different coloured squares that come together to make a rainbow blanket. Or you can stick to a themed palate and choose various shades of the same colour, such as pinks and greens.

Unexpected red

Have you heard the theory of unexpected red? It’s a secret that all interior designers know. The theory goes that if you introduce a pop of red into a colour scheme where it doesn’t fit at all, it makes any space look better. You could use the blanket itself to provide your splash of red or introduce it subtly as part of a scheme with other colours.
