Jeans from their Early Days to Modern Day

Jeans today are a fashion essential that every wardrobe needs. You can get jeans in a wide variety of styles and colours such as these mens Bugatti jeans from EJ Menswear, but this hasn’t always been the case.

Jeans as we know them were first invented by Levi Strauss and Jacob Davis. Levi Strauss moved to San Francisco from Germany during the California gold rush. He made lots of hardwearing items that were purchased by the people who had gone there to make their fortune.

One of his customers was Jacob Davis who worked as a tailor in Nevada – he ordered some trousers to be made for him, that were made from denim so that they would be suitable for the hard work he would need them for. Jacob wanted to patent the trousers as he felt that they would be a popular item for people wanting a hardwearing pair of trousers, so he offered Levi Strauss the opportunity to go into business together – from then the brand was born.

From then the popularity of these denim trousers increased as people looked for suitable work wear during these days. As well as amongst the people in the California gold rush the popularity of jeans soon spread across America and soon the world.

From their early says as a practical pair of trousers for the working man, jeans have now become something that is really popular and indeed considered a wardrobe essential. They span all age groups too and encompass a wide range of styles.
